Contact the Brain Injury Association of Colorado (BIAC) to learn more about how you can receive screening and support services. Health First Colorado
Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid program) is free or low-cost health care for Colorado children and adults who qualify. Coloradans who meet specific monthly income requirements can get insurance through Health First Colorado. In Colorado, Medicaid is administered by the Department of Healthcare Policy and Finance (HCPF).
In Colorado, the Brain Injury (BI) Waiver is a Medicaid program that provides home and community-based services to individuals with brain injuries. To enroll in the BI Waiver, individuals must qualify and enroll in Medicaid and meet additional BI Waiver requirements.

In addition to client services provided by BIAC, the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) provides ongoing support for school-aged youth. Division of Vocational Rehabilitation
DVR helps individuals with disabilities find and maintain employment by providing various services and resources. These services are tailored to individual needs and can include counseling, training, job placement assistance, and more.

Workforce Centers in Colorado provide free access to computer resources, resume writing help, interview skill building, job-search strategies, career counseling, training opportunities, and much more. They have staff dedicated to help people find work and advance their careers.
CENTERS FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING
A Center for Independent Living (CIL) is a community-based organization that helps people with disabilities live as independently as possible. They offer services like peer support, learning daily living skills, helping getting a job, or understanding your rights. CILs are run by and for people with disabilities. They understand the barriers that people with disabilities face and work with you to reach your goals. Each center provides the same core services:
- Information and referral
- Individual and systems advocacy
- Independent living skills training
- Peer counseling
- Transition services for youth and people leaving institutions.

Local resources and programs are available for older adults and their caregivers across Colorado. RISE: Rising together In Search of Excellence
Arapahoe Community College offers non credit classes for adults with brain injury to learn skills including self advocacy, executive life management, and educational/vocational skills. Visit the RISE Program to learn more and enroll in an upcoming course.
